MooGoo came about when the owner of MooGoo thought it was unusual that his mother was using a product made for cows for her skin condition. The “Udder Cream” being used in dairy farms was designed to help keep the skin on cow’s udders in prime condition for milking. Cow’s udders need to be soft and supple, not dry or cracked. However the original Udder Cream his mother used was very thick to apply. So he set about adapting this cream for humans by making it lighter and non-greasy.
They have now moved on to greener pastures, expanding their range of skin products to help with lots of different skin issues. However, they have kept the same philosophy about their products. That is making products full of healthy ingredients for children and adults, and use nothing they don’t feel is right for their own skin. Tired of products that tell you what they “don’t” use and not what they do? MooGoo are proud to show all their ingredients, not just the pretty ones.
How Green is MooGoo?
MooGoo might not have words like “Earth”, “Nature” or “Enviro” in their name, but they are one of the most environmentally friendly skin care companies around. Any consumption has an impact. But at every step they choose options that minimize any impact.
Everyone has personal preferences for ingredients they like and dislike. MooGoo love natural plant oils and extracts. They are also one of the few companies to be proud to show all their ingredients. The ingredients you won’t find in their products include:
- Paraffin Oil (Mineral Oil)
- Synthetic Preservatives such as Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Formaldehyde Donors.
- PEG’s and Synthetic Penetration enhancers.
- Sodium Laureth Sulphate or harsh cleansers. (Simply because there are gentler, natural alternatives.)
Want to see more detail of what they DO include? The full ingredients are listed with each product. No surprises for when you get it home.
Natural Ingredients and Allergies – Patch Test Your Products!
Many people are allergic to fruits, nuts, milk and other natural ingredients. Virtually nobody is allergic to Cola. This does not mean that Cola is good for our health and fruit is bad. The reason is that our bodies have not had the time to develop the wrong immune response (develop an allergy) to synthetic ingredients.
If you are prone to allergies, patch test all natural products on a small area of skin first. Once this is done, natural products are generally much better for health.
Does High Price = Quality
“I Simply Won’t Buy a Cream For Less Than $150”. It is tempting to believe that when spending more on skincare products, we are taking “better care” of our skin.
To some extent this is true. There are many cheap creams that are of very poor quality. However, there is also a marketing strategy of pricing creams expensively for no reason other than to increase sales to the high end market. Most people are not cosmetic chemists, and so really do not know what the ingredients are, and so will pay more in the hope it is better.
The ingredients in MooGoo’s creams are some of the most expensive available, and we use them in high concentrations. However, they are still able to cover costs while keeping the price affordable for everyday use.
